Dear families, if you have picked up your kids after school, you know that traffic can be backed up at times getting on to 167th Street. Eisenhower Middle and High Schools dismiss at approximately 2:50 and when there are cars already parked in front of Explorer, it can create a traffic jam for those parents. If you come early to pick up your child, I would ask that you please park in the lot near the multipurpose room and not line up Infront of Explorer until 3:20 in order to help the flow of traffic from EMS to 167th.
Thank you,
Sean Hollas

From the Explorer Family to yours. We hope everyone has a safe and happy Winter break! We will see you next year.
Students return January 4th, 2024!

Check out pictures from the week in library! Kindergarten earned "fun seats" on checkout day, first graders love the library elf, second graders watched books and played games on Mrs. Karber's Google slide, and a few students earned a mystery book that Mrs. Valek wrapped!

To encourage reading over the break, Mrs. Karber gave out an optional Reading Bingo sheet that students can return in January! They need to write the title of the book in the space, and three Bingos (5 spaces in a row equal one Bingo) will earn them a prize. They may use the same book title for two spaces. Have fun reading and have a wonderful break!

Congratulations to Emily Christensen, 3rd Grade Teacher at Explorer Elementary, for receiving the District Attitude Award!
Her nominator wrote, “Emily is an outstanding educator. She goes above and beyond for each and every student. This is evident in her organization, extensive planning, and daily preparation. She has such a kind and empathetic heart with effective classroom management. Her students really adore her. Emily is also an integral part of the third-grade team. She is our FANTASTIC tech support...we can always count on her to help us with any tech question or problem. We think she needs this attitude award because she truly doesn't see how great she really is....we LOVE her!”
Thank you Emily for going above and beyond to positively impact the students, staff, and families of Explorer Elementary! YOU are greatly appreciated!

A message from Mrs. Hommertzheim.
Family isn’t always blood. It’s the people in your life who want you in theirs; the ones that accept you for who you are. The ones who would do anything to see you smile and love you no matter what.
This sign hangs right inside my front doorway. I walk by it often, even read through it often. The past couple weeks have made me truly believe that it was indeed true.
Explorer welcomed me into their family seventeen years ago and became such a close part of my heart. Some people may think a school family is just words. They may even walk by a sign, read the words, hear the words…but maybe not feel them.
I have always believed them but honestly never felt them as much as after Candy Cane Lane. I can not express my thankfulness for your generosity and support. My heart is so full and I feel the love and support. Although this journey may be difficult, I know that I will be standing thanks to all of my family behind me. I appreciate and love you all…I hope you all have a happy holiday season. Make many beautiful memories and have a very Merry Christmas.
All my love,
Melanie Hommertzheim “Mrs. H”

Good afternoon Parents
