Students must be registered with completed enrollment form and full payment in order to participate. Driver Education will consist of three parts: 1. Important Information for Teen Drivers - Kansas uses a graduated driver license (GDL) process allowing increased driving privileges with age and experience. Teen drivers between the ages of 14 and 17 follow the graduated driver's license process. Teen drivers can obtain their Learner's Permit at the age of 14. Whether taking Driver Ed immediately or not, it is highly recommended that students obtain their Learner's Permit as close to their 14th birthday as possible. Teen drivers need to have their Learner's Permit for one year before they can move on to a Restricted License, and the one year begins the day they get their Learner's Permit. Important note: Any student who fails the written test more than 3 times at the DMV will not be able to take Driver Education for 6 months. On Wednesday the GMS 7th and 8th grade band members traveled to Salina to perform at the WSL contest at Kansas Wesleyan University. We are proud to report that the 8th grade band got a 1 (outstanding) rating, and the 7th grade band received a 2 (excellent) rating. Several students also performed solos or with an ensemble, many receiving 1 and 2 ratings. Band director Mr. Richey said, "These students have gone above and beyond to prepare music outside of class to perform by themselves. Not only did all of the students perform well, they also displayed extraordinary professionalism and were excellent representatives of GMS." Great job, students!

Our career and life students at GMS had an amazing opportunity to venture over to WSU Tech's south campus for their middle school days where they got a chance to tour their state-of-the-art facility. Students learned about education opportunities for various careers, toured the campus, and participated in some hands-on modules to give them a feel for various careers. Prepping our students at GMS to be future ready!
